2024 SPRING GOBBLER (Bearded bird only): Special season for eligible junior hunters, with required license, and mentored hunters 16 and under – April 27, 2024. Only 1 spring gobbler may be taken during this hunt. Hunting hours end at noon.
2024 SPRING GOBBLER (Bearded bird only): May 4 - 31, 2024. Daily limit 1, season limit 2. (Second spring gobbler may be only taken by persons who possess a valid special wild turkey license.) Hunting hours during the April 27 youth hunt, and from May 4 to May 18, 2024, legal hunting hours are one-half hour before sunrise until noon; from May 20-31, legal hunting hours are one-half hour before sunrise until one-half hour after sunset.

Turkey Hunting Safety Tips
There are several safe hunting practices for turkey hunting. By following these simple rules, you can reduce your risk of accidents. Look through the following list of safe turkey hunting practices..
- Leave an area if you suspect there’s another hunter already working the same bird.

Never stalk turkey sounds.
- Sit against a large stump, tree trunk or boulder that is wider than your shoulders and higher than your head. This protects you from being accidentally struck by pellets fired from behind you.

Never wear bright colors, especially
not red, white, blue or black because these are the colors of a wild turkey gobbler.
- Remain still and speak in a loud, clear voice to announce your presence to other hunters if necessary. Never move, wave or make turkey sounds to alert another hunter of your presence.
- Keep your hands and head camouflaged when calling.
- Be sure to look beyond an approaching bird to see whether other hunters are in the line of fire before firing.
- Positively identify your target. Be absolutely certain it’s a legal turkey before pulling the trigger.
- Put your gun’s safety on and approach the downed bird with your firearm pointed in a safe direction after firing.
Never run with a firearm.
