Licensing and Permits


Pennsylvania hunting license year runs from July 1-June 30. Please be sure to select items for the license year you desire to hunt; it does not follow the calendar year.

2018-19 Licenses/Permits scheduled for sale June 18, 2018 

Most general and add-on licenses are available on the Pennsylvania Automated License System (PALS) and in-store. Exceptions are noted below.

Buy a licenses online. Licenses purchased online may take up to 10 business days to be delivered. Also, use this link to check elk preference points, or the status of an antlerless deer or elk application, on the Pennsylvania Automated License System (PALS).

Locate a License Issuing Agent to purchase your license in person.

DIGEST BUYERS: 2017-18 Hunting & Trapping Digests and licenses are mailed separately and may not arrive at the same time. Verify that your mailing address is correct in the automated license system so that your Digest is mailed to the proper location. The Digest is available for printing and viewing online.



Antlerless License UpdateInformation and Application Antlerless deer license applications must be made directly to county treasurers.

Permits for Hunters & Trappers with Disabilities. Licenses for resident veterans with disabilities are available only from county treasurers.

Change of Residency Application (PDF) - A change in residency status from resident to nonresident or from nonresident to resident automatically invalidates a person’s hunting or furtaking license 30 days after the change in status unless the licensee completes and submits a change in residency.
