Thomas Grohol - Deputy Director of Administration
Tom Grohol serves as the deputy director of administration, a role he began in March of 2017. He is responsible for assisting in the planning and directing of statewide wildlife management programs for the Pennsylvania Game Commission, and developing and maintaining administrative procedures for the day-to-day management of the agency through coordination of the agency's bureau directors.
Prior to this appointment, beginning in August of 2014, he was the director of the Bureau of Wildlife Protection. He began his career with the Game Commission as a deputy wildlife conservation officer in 1980.
Prior to becoming director of the Bureau of Wildlife Protection, Grohol served in assignments as Southeast Region Director from December 2012 to August 2014, assistant director of the Bureau of Wildlife Protection from August 2007 to December 2012, chief of the Bureau of Wildlife Protection's Administrative Division from October 2001 to August 2007. He served as a district wildlife conservation officer in Lancaster County from February 1994 to October 2001 and a deputy wildlife conservation officer in Luzerne County from June 1980 to March 1993.
His educational background includes an associate degree in Forestry from the Williamsport Area Community College, and Municipal Police Officer Training Certification from the Pennsylvania State Police Training Center in Forty Fort. Prior to enrolling in the Ross Leffler School of Conservation's 22nd Class he served as a police officer for the City of Hazleton.
Career accomplishments include serving a resident instructor at the agency's Ross Leffler School of Conservation for the 24th, 25th and 26th Classes, he also served as program manager in the development of the agency's Conservation Officer's Assistance Program, Ceremonial Unit, and the Computer-Aided Dispatch/Mobile Computer/Records Management System project.
He is a past member of the Board of Directors of the Conservation Officers of Pennsylvania Association, former Game Commission representative to the North American Wildlife Enforcement Officers Association, a member of the National Conservation Law Enforcement Chiefs Association and the Northeast Conservation Law Enforcement Chiefs Association. He is also a member of Delta Waterfowl and Ducks Unlimited.
