MENTORED DEER ARCHERY HUNTS IN PHILADELPHIA

Since 2019, the Pennsylvania Game Commission and National Deer Association have partnered with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to offer mentored deer archery hunt opportunities at the John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The mentored deer archery hunt provides individuals age 12 and over with little to no hunting experience an opportunity to participate in a managed deer hunt under the guidance of trained mentors. Through the program, participants will learn how hunting benefits conservation, deer biology, how to shoot a crossbow, hunting safety and ethics, field dressing, and much more. All necessary equipment, like crossbows and ground blinds, are provided.

The application period is open from August 1 – 30, 2023.
